Audra Mae w/Romantica
7:00
Chances are good you haven’t heard of Audra Mae. Chances are also good you will be hearing a lot from her very soon. This Oklahoma native is now a part of the burgeoning L.A. singer/songwriter scene, and is finding some success there. She co-wrote the only original song on unlikely Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle’s record, which has sold 7 million copies worldwide. Mae’s own debut EP was just released earlier this year, and features her strong voice and well-crafted songs. Upon listening to her clear, powerful voice, it comes as little surprise that she is a great-grandniece of Judy Garland. Audra Mae will open the evening solo acoustic.
With a sound equal parts folk, country, and pop, Romantica is responible for some of the prettiest music to come out of Minneapolis in recent years. With frontman and Dublin native Ben Kyle writing most of the band’s material, Romantica is set to make a big sound with their fragile songs.
“Most albums with such ambitious titles fall flat in their attempt; Kyle, in songs and voice that sit comfortably between Jeff Tweedy and Ryan Adams, dwells comfortably in the long shadows cast by his forefathers while leaving his own undeniable stamp on the proceedings.” -David Mead, Paste Magazine review of America

• her a capella version of “Forever Young” that was used on the TV show “Sons of Anarchy”
