Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project

At the Dakota, we believe in cultivating jazz appreciation in our community.  With organizations like the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education and our record label: Dakota Live, we believe it is important to pass on the tradition of jazz for the sake of America’s cultural heritage. Jazz is a uniquely American art form. Having formed from a combination of influences ranging from african to swing, jazz is a melting pot of genres, just like the United States.  Jazz has a lot to teach, and even more to teach our youth. From the advantages of simply playing an instrument to the discipline it takes to master a genre.  We are so proud to partner with the Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project, a project dedicated to performing jazz throughout the summer in Minnesota parks and community spaces.  Our recent season’s kick-off at the Dakota is an exciting mark of the new season of music in the park! The mission of the TCMJP is to expose our community to the cultural tradition of jazz with the belief that jazz has a positive, and lasting effect on all ages and nationalities.  Every Tuesday of summer, TCMJP will set up at any number of local Twin Cities parks and master jazz musicians will perform.  Check out http://www.twincitiesmobilejazzproject.org/ to see the calendar and mark your dates now!
