“A Room with a Vieux – Part Deux”

The Dakota is presenting another edition of “A Room with a Vieux” at the burgeoning new spot, Vieux Carré in Saint Paul. We had an amazing New Year’s Eve at Vieux Carré and look forward to putting on more events in the space.

This time around we are hosting “A Room with a Vieux – Part Deux.

Doors open at 9pm

Our food offerings are house made Muffaletta sandwiches.

The evening will feature Debbie Duncan with Adi Yeshaya on piano, Gary Raynor on bass, and Joe Pulice on drums, Kenni Holmen on sax.

Adi Yeshaya is an Israeli-American composer, arranger and pianist. His recording credentials include some of the world’s top artists, such as Prince, Aretha Franklin, Lena Horne, Burt Bacharach and Michael Johnson. Adi served 11 years as arranger / orchestrator for Whitney Houston on her live, television and award appearances and was a member of the Whitney Houston Band, in the Nothing But Love World Tour, 2010. He collaborated with Ms. Houston’s musical director, Michael Baker on composing several of her tour overtures.

Gary Raynor is a bassist best known for his appearances in the Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band in the radio show “A Prairie Home Companion.” He has also played with Sammy Davis, Jr.’s backing band, and a host of other jazz artists, including Count Basie.

Joe Pulice holds three degrees in music and percussion from the University of Minnesota. Joe, as a jazz drummer and show player, has been an active, in-demand drummer/percussionist in the Twin Cities since 1980.

In 1979, Joe won The Northern Midwest Regional Louie Bellson/Slingerland Drum Contest. In 1986, Joe toured with Woody Herman and his Thundering Herd during Woody’s 50th Anniversary Tour. Joe has won two Minnesota Jazz Music Awards: one for Best Jazz Vibist and one as a member of world-renowned drummer Eric Kamau Gravatt’s group Kamanari. During the 1990’s, Joe was a member of Jack McDuff’s New York based band The Heatin’ System. As a show player, Joe toured nationally with Bernadette Peters during 1996-1997. Joe has played over 40 Broadway productions as a first call drummer in the Twin Cities.

Kenni Holmen is one of the most active recording and touring musicians from the Twin Cities area. Kenni has performed and recorded with many local, national and international artists over his twenty year career.
Kenni has performed with Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett, T.C. Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Donny Osmond, The Rev. Billy Graham Crusade, The Glen Miller Orchestra, Doc Severinson, Garrison Keilor, The Minnesota Orchestra and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra just to name a few. Kenni has recorded with Janet Jackson, Rod Stewart, Prince, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Ben Sidran, Baby Face, Mandy Moore, and many others.
