Hurricane Irma Meal Pack With Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.

In the wake of Hurricane Irma, co-owners Richard Erickson and Lowell Picket have organized a meal pack in order to contribute to the wider effort providing relief to those whose lives have been shaken by this natural disaster.

On Thursday September 14th, Dakota will be hosting a meal pack in partnership with Harvest Pack. We invite anyone who wants to join us to volunteer starting at noon, packing 15,000 meals to be shipped to the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank. Bread of the Mighty serves a five county area in Florida: Alachua, Dixie, Gilchrist, Lafayette and Levy. The pack is expected to last for about two hours, but volunteers can stay for as long or as little as they’d like. Come for your lunch hour or stay the whole time – whatever works!

We will be joined by singer and winner of America’s Got Talent Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., who will be performing Thursday evening at 7pm. Landau and his band will be working alongside the volunteers, packing meals for the relief effort. Everyone who volunteers will be offered a 20% discount on tickets to Landau’s performance.

Additional donations made that day will also be given to the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank donation.

The following is a statement from Landau’s team:

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr, the Columbia Records artist and season six winner of NBC TV’s “America’s Got Talent” will be participating in the event prior to his concert this Thursday night and says he’s honored to participate.

“My band and I really appreciate Dakota Jazz Club and Harvest Pack for giving us the chance to roll up our sleeves and pitch in to help. When disasters like this happen, sometimes you feel like there’s nothing you can do, so we’re grateful for the opportunity to do our small part.”

Landau just returned last week from driving 46 hours round trip with the Cora West Virginia Fire Department to deliver a trailer full of emergency supplies to the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Since winning AGT in 2011, he’s helped raise well over a million dollars for a variety of charities benefitting children, the elderly, homeless and disaster relief efforts.
