British Pop Vocals
An organic blend of acoustic and electric roots music laced by luscious five part vocal harmonies.
From the first time The Dunwells hit American shores at the 2011 International Folk Alliance conference, their impact has been nothing short of astounding. “Anyone that’s seen them has just been ‘Oh My God!’ They’re mind boggling!” raved Folk Alliance Executive Director Louis Jay Meyers to Voice of America radio. “The quality of the songs, the quality of the playing, the quality of the vocals, the harmonies. Man, they’re like Mumford and Sons times 10.”
No Depression was equally impressed: “People were buzzing about them and the music business folks in attendance were all clamoring for a chance to work with them.”
Writer/director Cameron Crowe, who won an Academy Award for his screenplay of “Almost Famous,” after hearing them this spring, tweeted “The Dunwells! Have arrived. 1st LA show at Hotel Cafe stunning…great songs played w/ everything they’ve got…so much fun to root for em.”
And music industry veteran and tastemaker Robert Lefsetz raved about The Dunwells in his Lefsetz Letter after seeing them at Folk Alliance Int’l this spring. ”Utterly astounding!,” he wrote. ”I was sitting inches away and my jaw dropped. FIVE PART HARMONIES? They sang about love, they sang about hope, and I’m electrified just thinking about it.”
