A special show featuring four of the biggest names in contemporary jazz and R&B!
Keyboardist/composer/producer Jeff Lorber is one of the primary architects of the style known as jazz fusion – a marriage of traditional jazz with elements of rock, R&B, funk and other electrified sounds. Lorber is well known to national and international audiences through a relentless touring schedule, with music featuring his now signature complex harmonies, unconventional time signatures and compelling rhythms. Lorber has been just as prolific and innovative in the new century as he was in the last, with several new recordings and the reformation of the Jeff Lorber Fusion.
Saxophonist Everette Harp has always been much more than just a jazz player. For over fifteen years Harp has been weaving hip-hop and classic R&B grooves into his melodic jazz and blues lines. Raised in church and weaned on gospel and soul music, the Houston born saxman has become one of the most visible and acclaimed artists in smooth jazz. Harp has shared the stage and studio with Sheena Easton, Kenny Loggins, Luther Vandross, Dionne Warwick, Jeffrey Osborne, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Billy Joel, Neil Diamond, Al Jarreau and many others.
Bassist/keyboardist Shaun LaBelle has learned from the best and it’s no accident where he is today. Shaun engulfs himself in the media entertainment business, from recording and producing a diversity of styles from Ray Charles to Everette Harp. Shaun is a versatile artist, proficient on bass, drums, keyboards and guitar, and is a multi-top ten writer with a number one hit in Europe with Shola Ama. Shaun has been working in commercials since his first appearance in one, at age five. Currently LaBelle is in production on his new album “I’m Back,” due out in Fall 2013.
Drummer/vocalist Stokley Williams has been the frontman of acclaimed R&B ensemble Mint Condition for over 20 years. A product of the Minneapolis Central High School performing arts program, Mint Condition has become one of the biggest bands on the R&B scene. They are known as a band that truly does it all: delivering hard-bitten funk with a hip hop edge, rocking out with screaming lead guitar, and crooning lush, soul ballads.
