Robert Robinson is a stunning vocalist with one of the biggest voices in the region, and he joins Jearlyn & Jevetta Steele for this rousing Tribute to Martin Luther King at the Dakota. The Twin Cities’ “Pavarotti of Gospel” (Star Tribune) has been leading gospel choirs since he was 15, and works tirelessly in his church and community. His new album, Lullabies from the Heart, redefines the very notion of a lullaby, with songs that are full of comfort and love that are appropriate everywhere from the nursery to the nursing home.
Hailing from Indiana, Jearlyn and Jevetta Steele grew up singing with their siblings Billy, JD and Fred in The Steele Children. Over time, the family moved to Minnesota, and these sisters sing together once again. Jearlyn has a show on CBS Affiliate WCCO named Talkin’ Steele every Sunday night and she appeared in the Robert Altman film A Prairie Home Companion. Jevetta, a touring performing and recording artist with musicians such as Prince, Mavis Staples, George Clinton, and The Sounds Of Blackness, was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance of “Calling You” in the musical Baghdad Café. The sisters appeared together recently on Prairie Home Companion.
