Funk Blues Piano
Scottie Miller and his band perform a wide range of contemporary New Orleans/Delta/barrelhouse/piano blues, with rich and soulful vocals. His piano playing rekindles the long lost styles and spirits of legendary players like Professor Longhair, Otis Spann, and Pinetop Perkins.
Scottie is also the touring keyboardist for 2010 Grammy nominee and multi-BMA recipient Ruthie Foster & The Family Band. He appears on her “Live At Antone’s”, which won “DVD Of The Year” at the 2012 Blues Music Awards.
In 2008, he was inducted into the Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame for his contributions to blues music and heritage with his instructional book and CD titled “Rock Keyboards” published by Hal Leonard Corporation.
What Other People Have Been Saying...
“Sounds like Dr. John meets The Band at Bruce Springsteen’s house. Highly recommended.” – Blues Revue
“Miller has a fine touch on the 88s, having absorbed the quirks and intricacies of dozens of rootsy pianists. He also sings with a soulful, yowling squawk that, when combined with his skittering triplets and drummer Mark O’Day’s second-line shuffle, gives tunes such as “Wrong Side of the Tracks” a New Orleans Ninth Ward flavor.”
