Vital Rock Songwriting
The New York Times called Willie Nile “one of the most gifted singer-songwriters to emerge from the New York scene in years.” His album Streets Of New York was hailed as “a platter for the ages” by UNCUT magazine. He has been called everything from “a one-man Clash” (UNCUT) to “the next Bob Dylan” and his critically acclaimed solo albums have gotten rave reviews around the world. Bono, Lou Reed, Lucinda Williams and Little Steven are among those who have sung his praises. Press raves about The Innocent Ones (2011) included:
“Stunning!…THE rock’n'roll album of 2011!” –BBC
“One of the best singer-songwriters of our time.” –JAM Magazine
Willie Nile is touring in support of his latest record, American Ride.
An artist who has never been comfortable with being a major-label commodity, Nile independently released 5 albums in the past 7 years. Nile has recorded and performed with the likes of Ringo Starr, Tori Amos, Elvis Costello, Ian Hunter, Barenaked Ladies, and Lucinda Williams, who once said, “Willie Nile is a great artist. If there was any justice in this world, I’d be opening up for him instead of him for me.” He has appeared onstage with Bruce Springsteen several times, and Pete Townsend was so taken with Nile he personally requested that Nile open for The Who on their 1982 tour.
What Other People Have Been Saying...
