Events for July 23, 2013
Join us Tuesday, July 23rd at noon for a one hour Wine-Artist Lunch with friends, Nathan Carlson, representing Center of Effort Wines, and guitarist/vocalist Badi Assad. Badi Assad is one of the most innovative, passionate and talented artists of her generation. She fluently blends traditional Brazilian music with a mixture of pop, jazz and other sounds from around the world. As a result, this extraordinary singer, guitarist, and percussionist is creating an exhilarating genre of music that quite literally defies categorization. What makes Badi Assad so unique is her pursuit of experimentation: She combines an extraordinary guitar talent, unique mouth percussion, beautiful singing, and rhythmic body movement to create an exciting, fresh sound. Indeed, watching Badi perform is like witnessing a spiritual phenomenon. How she does what she does all at once, while still delivering an extraordinary performance, is quite unbelievable. Center of Effort Winery in Edna Valley was acquired by Rob Rossi and Bill Swanson because of the land’s potential to produce profound Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The vineyard's lean soils, nuanced terrain, ocean-cooled climate, and pristine environment combine to create incomparable growing conditions for Burgundian varietals. The vision of Rob and Bill was to establish an artisan winery that would maximize the estate's timeless potential, and they assembled an elite team to help them achieve their vision—the Talley family leading the cultivation, and Mike Sinor and Nathan Carlson directing the winemaking. A member of Center of Effort's elite team, Nathan Carlson, will be on hand at the artist wine lunch to lead you through explorations of Center of Effort's wines, answer questions, and share stories of Center of Effort's varietals. This will be a relaxed hour where a world-class singer along with world-renowned wines and cuisine come together in Dakota fashion. The lunch begins with some time to chat with our guests of honor while enjoying your first course of canapés and a glass of Vermentino. Seated lunch follows with two courses made to pair with the Sella & Mosca wine selections. Pairing notes from Nathan Carlson and our Chefs round out the experience. Truffles and coffee will be served at the conclusion of lunch to add a spring to your step and get you energized to finish your day. In addition, each guest will receive an autographed CD by Badi Assad. The afternoon is reservation only and is $39 a person (tax and gratuity not included). Space is limited to 20 for this intimate event. Call 612.332.1010 to make your reservation!
