Dakota Birthday LogoIt’s our Birthday and you’re invited! The Dakota is turning 10 at 1010 Nicollet Mall, and at 28 years strong, we picked the 28th day to celebrate!

Join us on October 28th in celebration of acclaimed food and renowned music. It was twenty eight years ago this August when Lowell Pickett, late of downtown Minneapolis fine-dining haven Faegere’s, opened his doors in Bandana Square with a vision of bringing fine dining class to classic Midwestern cuisine. Pickett’s love of jazz meant this new space would have a stage, and in time it would host many of the area’s finest artists. When the opportunity to present nationally touring jazz figures arose, Lowell jumped at it. For most of the Dakota’s first 18 years nearly every major figure in jazz graced the Dakota’s stage.

Member’s Happy Hour from 4:00pm to 6:00pm & Anniversary Party 5:00 to 10 pm.

Featured food at our 28th anniversary party will be a “Then and Now” menu option for those who want to reminisce and celebrate and will include dishes from the Dakota’s past and present.  Four courses will feature a different flavor and technique from one of the Dakota’s chefs both past and present.  Jack Riebel is honored with Jalapeno Poppers – homage to Jack’s love of all chilis. From Ken Goff, we will have the beloved Apple Brie Soup – quite adventurous in its time.   Seared Scallops with Truffled Potatoes, Mushroom Conserva, and Membrillo brings us into the present with Kristen Tyborski and Derik Moran showing modern influences and techniques.  In past incarnations of the Dakota’s menu, a soufflé was traditionally always on the menu and for dessert Katie Elsing will resurrect this missed favorite.

Enjoy music from former Dakota Combo members the Jake Baldwin Quartet and then stay for one of our fabulous Foodie Nights featuring music from Sarah Morris, and enjoy the Dakota’s award winning cuisine paired with a celebration of Minnesota Music. Foodie Nights also feature a $10 bottle of wine and there is no cover charge for music.
