Willie Walker & Paul Metsa CD Release

“a fruitful partnership and a beautiful session…” — Tom Hyslop, Now Playing

Paul & Willie “Live on Highway 55″ CD Release Party @ The Dakota

Join Willie & Paul as they celebrate the release of their first recording “Live on Highway 55.” A batch of songs that have been etched into the collective consciousness as seminal hits, and then diminished by overexposure and karaoke indignity; and cover art that evokes the nostalgia of getting kicks on Route 66. On this new release, Metsa and Walker alchemize these elements into an entirely fresh and joyful musical road trip. It’s just Willie’s voice and Paul’s guitar, great songs and a bounty of inspiration and soul – the result is the rediscovery of two rich talents and a tribute to the depth of a semi-modern chapter in the American songbook.

Paul Metsa is a 30 year veteran of the MN music scene. He has won 7 MN Music Awards, including 2005 Americana Artist of the year. He has performed over 5,000 professional gigs in the Twin Cities, and has released 11 original recording projects on his label (formerly Raven Records.)

One of the great soul and blues singers in the Twin Cities, Willie Walker has lent his sweet tenor voice to a number of high-profile projects, yet still remains one of the region’s best kept secrets. He manages to reinvent all of the soul classics you know and love, done in Walker’s own inimitable style.
