A note from Brian about the shows:
“My concept for the Brian McKnight trio was inspired by the fact that my bassist, Chris “Big Sexy” Loftlin, and my guitarist, Tyrone “Gutt Bucket” Chase, and I have been playing together for 15 plus years. We’ve played all over the world in venues great and small and I wanted to bring all of those experiences together on stage with the three of us in a small trio setting playing all of my hits and b sides and relating our stories from the road. Basically, it will be like my solo show only on steroids.”
About Brian McKnight
Singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Brian McKnight is one of the most lauded entertainers in contemporary music. Along with a record 16 Grammy nominations, he has sold over 20 million albums, and has received American Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, NAACP Image and Blockbuster Awards, and Billboard Songwriter of The Year. He has worked in just about every medium – be it music, film, television or theater.
McKnight grew up in a very active gospel music community in Buffalo, New York. Inspired by the success of his older brother Claude (whose band, Take 6, was signed to a major label), McKnight started making demo tapes of his original music and shopping them around. He landed a deal with Mercury Records when Ed Eckstine, son of Billy Eckstine, heard his tapes, and thus began a successful recording career that continues today.
McKnight is active in many other facets of the music industry as well: one of Brian’s forays onto Broadway found him playing Billy Flynn in “Chicago.” In addition to scoring a number of films for the likes of Tyler Perry, McKnight has hosted numerous TV and radio shows, which have been aired and syndicated by BET, ABC, and KTWV-Los Angeles. McKnight has had time to showcase his non-musical talents as well: he spent three years playing professional basketball with the ABA’s Ontario Warriors.
