About Calley Bliss
Calley Bliss is an ever-evolving artist, with a voice that will welcome you along for the ride. With the release of her 2010 debut solo album, Pigeonholed, it is easy to see the influences of her scattered past – a product of 80’s and 90’s pop divas, educated to be a jazz songstress, used more often than not for her electric stage presence and power belting voice in pop, soul and funk projects. Pigeonholed represents her first foray into music from a personal, artistic side.
Her recent writing totters on that ever-popular line of jazz and pop; ambiguous and haunting lyrics come from her still velvet-toned voice, but now with more of a raw edge, an uncoiffed delivery. She is doing what so many artists before her have done – stretching the boundaries of expression and creation – but always careful to not lose sight of the simple theme of each song, or more importantly to her, her ability to feel and perform her music in a way that is relatable.
In the three years since the release of Pigeonholed, Calley explored new horizons in music and life as a teacher in the classroom at Fresco Arts Academy, a private performing arts secondary school outside of Boise, ID. After spending more than a decade living and learning in Texas, New York City, and Boise, Calley relocated to the place she grew up, the Twin Cities of Minneapolis / St. Paul, MN in the fall of 2013 to be closer to family, and become a part of the healthy music scene of the Twin Cities.
