About Roberta Gambarini
Check out this great interview from 2011 to learn more about this growing artist!
A native Italian, Gambarini has been turning heads since her 1998 move to Boston and concurrent third-place finish in the Thelonious Monk Jazz Vocal Competition. A vocal virtuoso, she has incredible technique and a warm tone, owing to her instrumental approach. Her first domestic release, Easy to Love, was nominated for a Grammy award in 2006.
What Other People Have Been Saying...
“Roberta Gambarini brings her pristine voice, impeccable diction and pitch, scatting smarts and personal charm to the Dakota…”
– Pamela Espeland, 0ct 10, 2008
“Roberta Gambarini is a spectacularly talented jazz singer who is regularly compared favorably with the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Carmen McRae. No less than iconic jazz pianist Hank Jones … declared her the best new singer in 60 years.” – City Pages
“Gambarini is a true successor to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McRae” – Kevin Lowenthal, Boston Globe
“Even Gershwin would have enjoyed her passionate reworking of ‘Porgy, I’s Your Woman Now/I Loves You Porgy.’” – Amazon
“Finally a singer whom musicians have long known is one of the greats, Roberta’s recording debut is breathtaking” – Saxophone great Michael Brecker
“A shockingly good young jazz singer originally from Italy … Sounding like an update of past jazz divas — particularly the regal Carmen McRae and the amazingly fluid Sarah Vaughan — she lives up to the title of her U.S. debut CD, ‘Easy to Love.’” – Tom Surowicz, Star Tribune
