Dreamer In Concert

Stacey Kent

About Stacey Kent

The acclaimed Grammy-nominated singer, Stacey Kent, sings from the soul. She tells us her stories with her faultless phrasing and a lucid, enchanting voice.

New Jersey born but now living in Colorado, Stacey is currently on a worldwide tour, marking the release of her third album on Blue Note/EMI, ‘Dreamer in Concert.’ Her new album is also her first ever live album and captures Stacey’s magical onstage persona. ‘Dreamer in Concert’ follows the platinum selling, Grammy-nominated ‘Breakfast on the Morning Tram’ (2007) and her all-French album, ‘Raconte-moi’ (2009).

Stacey’s band features Jim Tomlinson (sax). Together, their album, ‘The Lyric,’ was awarded Best Album at the 2006 BBC Jazz Awards and Best Vocal Album in the 2007 Ronnie Scott’s Awards. Jim’s songwriting partnership with famed novelist, Kazuo Ishiguro, has formed a central plank in Stacey’s recent albums, which, alongside the Great American Songbook, gives Stacey’s repertoire a uniquely broad and fresh sound.

With Roberto Menescal, Stacey recorded her most recent release, ‘Tenderly’ (2015), an intimate collection of standards that showcases her crystalline voice and Menescal’s warm guitar. Jazzwise Magazine referred to the album as “an extremely beautiful meeting of minds.” It is Menescal’s only recording as a jazz guitarist and demonstrates the debt he owes to the great Barney Kessel. As Kent’s first standards album in a decade, it shows her increasingly impressive and maturing interpretative gifts.
