Trumpet Summit: Brecker, Henderson, Pelt, Jordan

About The United Trumpet Summit featuring Randy Brecker, Dr. Eddie Henderson, Jeremy Pelt & Leon Jordan Jr.

Randy Brecker has been shaping the sound of jazz, R&B and rock for more than four decades. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and Parliament-Funkadelic to Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, David Sanborn, Jaco Pastorius, Horace Silver and Frank Zappa.

Eddie_Henderson
Eddie Henderson grew up in San Francisco, studied trumpet at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, but was trained to be a doctor when he permanently chose music. Henderson has worked with Art Blakey, Charles Earland, John Handy, Tyrone Washington, and Joe Henderson. Henderson gained some recognition for his work with the Herbie Hancock Sextet (1970-1973), although his own records (which utilized electronics) have tended to be commercial. Strongly influenced by Miles Davis’s early fusion period, Henderson is best known for his acoustic hard bop playing, while also working as a psychiatrist.

Jeremy_Pelt
Jeremy Pelt has become one of the preeminent young trumpeters within the world of jazz. Forging a bond with the Mingus Big Band very early on, as his career progressed, Pelt built upon these relationships and many others which eventually lead to collaborations with some of the genre’s greatest masters. These projects include performances and recordings with Cliff Barbaro, Keter Betts, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Ravi Coltrane, Frank Foster, Winard Harper, Jimmy Heath, Vincent Herring, John Hicks, Charli Persip, Ralph Peterson, Lonnie Plaxico, Bobby Short, Cedar Walton, Frank Wess, Nancy Wilson and The Skatalites, to name a few. As a leader, Pelt has recorded ten albums and has toured globally with his various ensembles, appearing at many major jazz festivals and concert venues.

Leon_Jordan_Jr
Leon Jordan Jr. is at the cutting edge of modern music. His recordings reflect a vast array of styles that exceed the boundaries of traditional and contemporary jazz. Since graduating from University of the Arts in June 2009, Leon has been steadily composing, recording and has done work with Music Soul Child, Bilal, Maysa, and Kindred.
