Dakota Combo - 2006 |
This
is the first year of Minnesota’s premier High
School jazz combo – The Dakota Combo. Sponsored
by the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education and
the Macphail Center for the Arts, These students performed
with national guest artist Bobby Watson under the direction
of jazz artist Kelly Rossum. |

Free
concert performances on designated Saturday or Sunday
afternoons combine jazz education with a unique performance
experience, while encouraging an understanding,
appreciation and enthusiasm for jazz. The events are free and sponsored by
The Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education with funding

Jazz
Dialogues are informal gatherings that bring
professional musicians (from young emerging artists
to "living
legends") together with students. They take
place at the Dakota, at area schools and Homewood
Studios, a communkity resource in north Minneapolis.
Sponsored by The Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education with funding from COMPAS:Community
Programs in the Arts through a grant from the McKnight Foundation,The McNeeley
Foundation,The LBV Fund,and Burger King.
Whenever possible, we work in collaboration with secondary schools and teachers,
MacPhail Center for the Arts, and the University of Minnesota School of Music,
