SUMMARY:The Klezmatics - Happy Joyous Hanukkah
DESCRIPTION:“catchy\, pulse-quickening party tunes and heart-warming melodies” – Jewish Chronicle\n  \nThis December\, The Klezmatics — the world’s most celebrated klezmer band — return with their beloved Happy Joyous Hanukkah Tour. As candles are lit across the country\, The Klezmatics honor both Jewish tradition and bold musical reinvention. \nFor nearly forty years\, The Klezmatics have been transforming klezmer from nostalgic memory into a living\, breathing\, revolutionary art form. And nowhere is that spirit more alive than in their legendary collaboration with Woody Guthrie. There\, his long-lost Hanukkah lyrics were brought to life in the band’s iconic 2006 album Happy Joyous Hanukkah. \nIn 2025\, that album will be reissued in a beautifully remastered vinyl edition\, just in time for the holiday season. Audiences will once again dance to Guthrie/Klezmatics favorites like “Hanuka Gelt\,” “Spin Dreydl Spin\,” and “Happy Joyous Hanuka”. Here\, the band brings the songs back to the stage — full of warmth\, humor\, and Yiddish soul. \nBut this year’s tour isn’t only about tradition — it’s also about what comes next. The Klezmatics will release their fourteenth studio album\, The New York Sessions\, in early 2026. Thus\, this Hanukkah tour will feature exclusive live premieres of brand-new material. These new songs continue the band’s legacy of addressing contemporary themes — from migration and solidarity to joy\, resistance\, and renewal. Moreover\, they explore these themes through the ecstatic power of Yiddish-rooted music. \nThe result is a Hanukkah concert like no other: a celebration of light in dark times. Here\, ancient stories meet new melodies\, and community is built through dance\, laughter\, and shared song. \nWhether you’ve been following The Klezmatics for decades or you’re lighting your first menorah\, this tour is for you. \nRecommended for fans of Chava Alberstein\, Klezmerson\, Burning Bush and Daniel Kahn.

Their “ethno chaos” sound spans years of performances prior to Russia’s 2022 invasion\, but war is in everything now. Here\, they masterfully blend Ukrainian traditional music with influences from around the world\, resulting in an unexpected new music. \nTraditional music has seen a resurgence in Ukraine over the past decades\, after being suppressed during Soviet rule. DakhaBrakha uses Ukrainian polyphony as its foundation\, interweaving complex rhythmic and melodic structures from India\, Arabia\, Africa\, and Australia. Their music is textural\, layered sounds with distinctive percussive heartbeats\, thumping bass lines\, distorted electric guitars and influences of jazz\, spoken word\, rap and even punk. DakhaBrakha calls this tapestry of influences “ethno chaos.” And this chaos is a strength\, allowing them to draw in strands of music that connect Ukraine with the world. \nThey are troubadours\, activists and educators. Though their name means Give/Take in the old language\, DakhaBrakha is new Ukraine\, both pre-colonial and post-Soviet. Moreover\, they work within a global network of art and music. They aim to help audiences see Ukraine not as a monolith\, but as a cosmopolitan culture. Furthermore\, one that takes in other cultures\, and gives in return.  \nDakhaBrakha was created in 2004 at the Kyiv Center of Contemporary Art “DAKH” by the avant-garde theatre director Vladyslav Troitskyi. Theatre work has left its mark on the band performances – their shows are always staged with a strong visual element. Projected behind them are a mix of animations from different Ukrainian artists and photos of life in today’s Ukraine.  \nThe band is currently in the process of recording their first album since 2020 in Kyiv (Ukraine)\, which combines material created before and during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. \nRecommended for fans of Dakh Daughters\, Yagódy\, Alyona Alyona and Onuka.

SUMMARY:Iam Tongi
DESCRIPTION:“a soaring performance” – American Songwriter\n  \nYou can hear it in the gentle rasp of his wave-washed vocal soul. You can see it in his smile. For Iam Tongi\, music is about transformation – and it always has been.  \nTongi is a Hawaiian-born singer-songwriter and the Season twenty-one champion of American Idol. Twenty-year-old Tongi first picked up a ukulele in the fifth grade. Here\, he became immersed in a deeply musical world filled with the traditional singing and dance of Pacific Island cultures. Living in the small town of Kahuku on the northern tip of Ohau\, Tongi learned to sing from his father. Moreover\, his father\, in turn\, had learned from his father before him.  \nClearly blessed with an expressive\, charismatic voice\, Tongi was pushed hard. Thus\, he developed a multi-faceted sound blending island reggae with the influence of his family record collection. There\, this included country (Kenny Rogers)\, classic rock (Dr. Hook)\, and R&B (Luther Vandross). Tongi played his first show by age thirteen. However\, after moving to Seattle a few years later – and losing his father in 2021 – the young talent nearly gave music up completely. His mother secretly signed him up for American Idol. Then\, Tongi’s viral audition performance of James Blunt’s “Monsters” became one of Idol’s all time emotional highlights. Finally\, he went on to win Season twenty-one\, making history as the first Pacific Islander to ever win the show. \nRecommended for fans of Jack Johnson\, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole\, Maoli and Kolohe Kai.

SUMMARY:Alex Cuba
DESCRIPTION:“Staying true to his Spanish language folk-funk-rock hybrid has paid off.”— Billboard\n  \nIt’s a strange thing\, watching audiences sing along with Alex without speaking his native Spanish. But they do. They “la-la-la” their way from chorus to chorus\, caught up in his inescapable gravitational pull. His warm\, elastic vocals float above a sound essentially from everywhere. It’s an effortless mix of funk\, soul\, and pan-Latin textures\, and no matter where you’re from\, you can’t help it. You’re home.  \nHe discovered music’s power to mesmerize and transport you at an early age. “I used to skip meals\,” says Cuba\, speaking of the long days he spent locked in his room as a child in Artemisa\, Cuba\, mastering the bass. “My mother would have to remind me that I was human\, that I needed food. Music has always taken me away like that.” Today\, he carries audiences away with his performances in the same fashion\, from the Hollywood Bowl to Radio Music City Hall. There\, he has shared the stage with artists as diverse as Sheryl Crow and Juan Luis Guerra. He casts his spell as if genres weren’t a thing.  \nAt the heart of his ability to charm anything that breathes is Alex’s mastery of a deeper\, more important language. The dude speaks joy. And it doesn’t matter if it’s Tito Puente joy or Stevie Wonder joy; it’s contagious. It shines through songs he’s co-written with Nelly Furtado and Jason Mraz. It’s the north star of his compositions.  \nThis undeniable exuberance\, expressed with masterful musicianship\, has catapulted Alex to the highest levels of global critical acclaim. It led this fiercely independent artist to two Juno awards\, four Latin Grammys\, and a 2022 Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album. \nRecommended for fans of Nelly Furtado\, Cimafunk\, Pedro Guerra and Leonel Garcia. \n📸: Eduardo Rawdriguez

SUMMARY:Barrington Levy
DESCRIPTION:  \nBarrington Levy is one of the great success stories of the 1980s. There\, he arrived on the dancehall scene and swiftly remodeled it in his own image. Although numerous DJs and vocalists would rise and fall during this decade\, Levy possessed staying power. Also\, he continued releasing massive hits well into the ’90s.  \nLevy was born in 1964 in Clarendon\, Jamaica. There\, as a youngster\, Barrington Levy formed the Mighty Multitude with his cousin Everton Dacres. They started off playing the sound systems and cut their first single\, “My Black Girl\,” in 1977. At age fourteen\, Levy broke out on his own the next year. Then\, he recorded his debut solo single\, “A Long Time Since We Don’t Have No Love.” While the single didn’t have an impact\, the teen’s dancehall appearances became eagerly awaited events.  \nIt was here where Levy met former singer-turned producer Junjo Lawes and New York-based producer Hyman “Jah Life” Wright. The pair took the youth into Channel One studio\, accompanied by the Roots Radics\, and recorded a clutch of cuts. The first releases were “Ah Yah We Deh\,” quickly followed by “Looking My Love\,” “Englishman\,” and “Wedding Ring Aside.” Success was immediate\, but it was the mighty “Collie Weed” that really cemented the teen’s hold on dancehall. Then\, “Shine Eye Girl” was a smash follow-up\, and the young Levy was now in great demand. A stream of singles followed. “Wicked Intention\,” “Jumpy Girl\,” a lovely version of Horace Andy’s “Skylarking\,” the humorous “Disco Music\,” “Reggae Music\,” and “Wicked Intention”. Levy joined forces with producer Alvin Ranglin for another sting of hits. “Never Tear My Love Apart\,” “Jah\,” “You Made Me So Happy\,” and “When You’re Young and in Love.” \nRecommended for fans of John Holt\, Buju Banton\, Yellowman and Steel Pulse.

SUMMARY:Gadan
DESCRIPTION:  \nGadan is a storming new band\, blending the drive of Irish traditional music and bluegrass with the heart and soul of folk and Appalachian music. Then\, they spice this intoxicating musical blend with an Italian seasoning for extra flair! \nGadan is a fresh project created by seasoned Italian musicians from the Irish trad and European folk/rock scene. Additionally\, each member has years of experience performing at major traditional and alternative music festivals across Europe and the US. The band originally featured four members\, all Italian\, bringing remarkable skill and passion to Irish traditional music and old-time American styles. Here\, this created a distinctive\, memorable combination. Lorenzo Testa and Jacopo Ventura are both founding members\, longtime performers on international stages. \nThen\, Enda Scahill joined in 2024\, a tenor banjo master\, award-winner\, All-Ireland champion\, and founder of We Banjo 3. Together\, Gadan and Enda performed at all the major Irish festivals across the U.S. \nTheir high-energy repertoire has a powerful live appeal\, recalling new-trad acts\, but with a unique identity. With three banjos—tenor and clawhammer—fiddle\, mandolin\, and guitar\, they create a unique “strings-only” sound. Then\, they enhance this with subtle electronics and a powerful rhythmic pulse. \nThe band completed its line-up in 2025 with the addition of Eric Long\, a gifted clawhammer banjoist and singer-songwriter. Moreover\, Long hails from the mountainous heart of Pennsylvania\, a region deeply rooted in Appalachian tradition. He brings a raw\, authentic American folk soul to the group’s transatlantic sound\, further expanding their dynamic\, diverse musical identity. \nHere\, Gadan’s performances build momentum\, sweeping the audience into ecstasy with their refreshing yet deeply rooted traditional sound. \nRecommended for fans of We Banjo 3\, Skerryvore\, BeauSoleil and Cassie & Maggie.

SUMMARY:Salin
DESCRIPTION:  \nSalin is a Thai-born\, Canada-based drummer\, and a Juno-nominated producer and composer. Her current music explores the enchanting sounds of Northeast Thailand and marries it with the 70’s psychedelia of West Africa. Here\, she does this through the lens of modern soulful production. \nShe released her debut album Cosmic Island in 2021. Then\, she appeared at a variety of festivals\, including the beloved Montreal International Jazz Festival. \nThe following year\, Salin traveled to Northeastern Thailand. There\, the local culture\, music and instruments sparked an idea for her next project. She sought to bridge traditional Thai instruments and Isan music with the rhythm and groove of soul & funk and 70’s West African Afrobeat. Working with both local Thai as well as Canadian musicians\, Salin is bringing together elements of East and West. Salin released her second full-length album\, Rammana\, in April 2025. \nRammana is a groundbreaking album that merges afro-jazz\, funk and indigenous Thai instruments. Thus\, Salin coined the genre “Afro Thai Funk.” This unique blend highlights shared global music traditions and reminds us that music is a universal language. Here\, it transcends borders and unites us all in a shared experience of joy and creativity. Furthermore\, she is the only female drummer\, producer\, and composer promoting this genre. Thus\, Salin stands out as an innovative voice and a pioneer in the world and jazz music scenes. \nSalin ponders themes of identity\, spirituality\, and humanity (all paired with a dose of fun) through her music. Then\, she creates a unique sonic journey for her listeners. She divides her time between her Canada-based studio and stages across the globe. \nRecommended for fans of Butcher Brown\, Fela Kuti\, The Meters and Marquis Hill.

SUMMARY:The English Beat
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe English Beat is a band with an energetic mix of musical styles and a sound like no other. The band’s unique sound has allowed it to endure for nearly four decades and appeal to fans\, young and old\, all over the world. \nWhen The English Beat rushed onto the music scene in 1979\, it was a time of massive social and political unrest. This also created economic and musical upheaval. This set the stage for a period of unbridled musical creativity. Thus\, artists like The Beat were able to speak out and speak their mind on the news of the day. \nThe Beat first came to prominence as founding members of the British Two Tone Ska movement. Also\, their classic first album Just Can’t Stop It fits squarely in that genre. Along with their contemporaries The Specials\, The Selecter\, and Madness\, the band became an overnight sensation. The Beat became one of the most popular and influential bands of that movement. \nHowever\, band leader Dave Wakeling never felt constrained by the movement. The band crossed over fluidly between soul\, reggae\, pop and punk\, and from these disparate pieces they created an infectious dance rhythm. The band’s sound continued to evolve over their three studio albums. Further evolution came through the General Public era (a band formed by Dave with The Beat’s toaster\, Ranking Roger). Finally\, it continues its evolution with 2018’s Here We Go Love\, the band’s first album since 1982’s Special Beat Service. \nConsummate showman that he is\, Dave Wakeling continues to keep The Beat alive and strong. They tour the world as The English Beat with an amazing all-star ska backing band. Further\, they play the hits of The Beat\, General Public\, and songs from the new album. \nYou just can’t stop The English Beat! \nRecommended for fans of The Specials\, Madness\, General Public and Elvis Costello.
