Dirty Dozen Brass Band | Thu. June 25, 2015 7pm, 9pm

Always proudly raging for a funky good time, these street & parade seasoned jazzy brass cats never fail to bring their joy seeking life of the party afterhours style soul stirring presence & highly energized live performance.

Ever since I first saw the Dirty Dozen open for Stevie Ray Vaughan three decades ago in Saint Paul at the once mighty Riverfest, the New Orleans powerhouse has gained international reach & widening well deserved exposure. The eye opening experience led me downriver where I soon discovered a treasure of other brass bands & musical realms that I was destined to find.

That was the mid 80’s; fast forward to now, the Dozen is still bringing their livewire spirited dance fueling antics & feel-good music to audiences everywhere. The DDBB emanate the magic of the New Orleans Jazzfest everywhere they go making them noble ambassadors of the wondrous city.

Now having played & brought happiness to over 30 countries on 5 continents, the band never strays too far from their unique hometown roots.

“Other cities may claim to be music capitals but none of them are like New Orleans. The culture of music & entertainment that exists here is unlike anywhere else in the world.” -Gregory Davis DDBB

As far as renowned celebrated New Orleans brass bands go, DD are amongst the most well known. One of the first original brass bands to break out of the Crescent City & show the world this dance happy hybrid of street rhythms & second line brass band flavor. Hence, enlightening the world.

Going strong now for 37 years & counting, the esteemed double D are poised for a bright exuberant future. Catch their fantastically fun vivacious vibe live in Minneapolis at the intimate Dakota on Thursday June 25 for 2 shows 7pm & 9pm. Dancing & festive revelry is sure to break out. Come on down & feel the groove.
