Celebrate Black History Month with

Ginger Commodore and friends

incl. Debbie Duncan, Julius Collins and Stokley

Since it’s inception in 1926, Black History Month (Feb) has been a time to commemorate the valuable contributions, achievements and the remarkable history of African Americans.

This year, in honor of Black History Month (BHM), Ginger Commodore and band have tapped into the BHM musical playlist of several of Minnesota’s noted leaders of color as was shared with The Current, from Minnesota Public Radio, the artists and songs that inspire them.

You’ll hear playlists from St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter; US Representative Ilhan Omar; Minneapolis City Council member Andrea Jenkins and Raeisha Williams, owner of African-inspired Heritage Tea House. They share their BHM Playlists that include songs that have given them wisdom and made them think, as well as celebrate things they love about Black music. You’ll hear songs that tell great stories, some of the songs are revolutionary and some exemplify the African American culture in music showing a life that is so diverse and crosses so many boundaries. “Young Gifted and Black”, “Wake Up Everybody”, “A Song for You” and many more. Expect some surprise guests…you know how we do! Ginger Commodore with Sanford Moore, Jay Young, Bobby Commodore.
