What happens when the extraordinary vocal artistry of Cantus meets the dazzling musicianship of We3?
Experience the Dakota’s refined and elegant Quinlan Room as two exceptional ensembles come together for a one-night-only event of musical virtuosity, undeniable charm, and irresistible collaborative chemistry.
Cantus brings its signature blend of eight remarkable voices, moving effortlessly across genres with breathtaking precision and emotional depth. We3 adds in a thrilling combination of virtuosic piano and violin, dynamic percussion, and powerhouse vocals with the musical chops and improvisational flair to take each song beyond your expectations.
The “engaging” (New Yorker) low-voice ensemble Cantus is celebrating its thirty-second season! Cantus is widely known for its trademark warmth and blend, innovative programming and riveting performances of music ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century. The Washington Post has hailed the Cantus sound as having both “exalting finesse” and “expressive power”. They also refer to the “spontaneous grace” of its music making. The Philadelphia Inquirer called the group nothing short of “exquisite.”
We3 is pianist Nicole Pesce, violinist Suzanne Lansford, and vocalist Renee Grant Patrick (daughter of the late George Grant of the world-famous Ink Spots). This trio is a powerhouse of talents. They pay tribute to timeless tunes with new and familiar interpretations of popular jazz, swing, and blues standards and more. Since its official debut in 2016, the group has established itself as a staple of the Phoenix performing arts scene. They dazzle audiences with genre-crossing arrangements that make classics feel newly minted.
This special concert features audience favorites alongside fresh takes and surprise medleys. You can expect dynamic trio interplay, spontaneous creativity, and what fans love most—the undeniable chemistry of We3.
With a program that moves between jazz, soul, pop, and art song classics, each ensemble will take the stage for its own set and then join forces for a few musical mashups that will have you humming along long after the final chord.
