A Charlie Brown Christmas is the Emmy and Peabody award-winning story written by St. Paul’s own Charles M. Schulz. This classic has warmed the hearts of millions of fans since it first aired on television nearly sixty years ago. The Christmas special marked the first time Schulz’s classic characters made the jump from the newspaper page to animation. Moreover, the soundtrack being provided by a jazz trio rather than full orchestra, originally a budget-conscious decision, proved to be an inspired choice. Here, Guaraldi’s songs are as important to the show’s enduring success as the characters themselves.
