And eventually, it came time for him to forge a new path, combining his ministry of gospel with a vast experience rooted in soul. He possesses the ability to sing any song and yet remain true to his vision.

Jonatha Brooke has written songs, made records and toured since her days in Boston with The Story. The Story released two albums, Grace in Gravity and The Angel in the House, on Elektra Records. In 1995, Jonatha released Plumb, the first of two solo albums on MCA/Universal, followed by Ten Cent Wings in 1997. In 1999 she started her own independent label, Bad Dog, and has since released six more albums. Her 2008 release, The Works, combined previously unheard, unpublished Woody Guthrie lyrics with her own music and arrangements. Recently, she’s co-written songs with Katy Perry and with The Courtyard Hounds. Jonatha has written for three Disney films and several television shows, and has composed the theme song for Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse.

Huun Huur Tu

Huun-Huur-Tu are a music group from Tuva, a republic of Russia situated on the Mongolia–Russia border. The most distinctive characteristic of Huun-Huur-Tu’s music is throat singing, in which the singers sing both the note (drone) and the drone’s overtone, thus producing two or three notes simultaneously. The overtone may sound like a flute, whistle or bird, but is solely a product of the human voice. The group primarily use native Tuvan instruments such as the igil, khomus(Tuvan jaw harp), doshpuluur, and dünggür (shaman drum). However, in recent years, the group have begun to selectively incorporate Western instruments, such as the guitar. While the thrust of Huun-Huur-Tu’s music is fundamentally indigenous Tuvan folk music, they also experiment with incorporating not only Western instruments, but electronic music as well.

Music legend Al Jardine brings a storytellers-style performance to the stage in what must be the first show of its kind by any member of the Beach Boys. Joined by his son Matt, Al brings the epic tale of America’s band alive from their earliest days recording their very first song, “Surfin’” up on through “Surfin Safari,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “Sloop John B” and that magical year of 1966, right through to today and his debut solo release, “A Postcard From California.” In an intimate acoustic setting including rare images and video, Mr. Jardine takes us back into a history so improbable that it must have been meant to be! From meeting Elvis Presley to making “Pet Sounds,” here are the songs, stories and harmonies that have moved generations in one unforgettable evening.

“Welcome to the New Power Generation,” announced Prince in “Eye No,” the opening song on his 1988 album Lovesexy. Two years later, the Graffiti Bridge soundtrack contained “New Power Generation” with a group of the same name credited as background vocalists. The New Power Generation was featured on Prince’s Diamonds and Pearls (1991) and The Love Symbol Album (1992).

New Orleans Suspects began playing together in 2009 as a pick-up band at the Maple Leaf in New Orleans. Comprised of some of the most seasoned, highly respected players in NOLA, the group called themselves The Unusual Suspects. Their chemistry was undeniable and by the summer of 2011 they decided to tour full-time, renaming the band New Orleans Suspects. They quickly began attracting large crowds from San Francisco to New York. In five short years they’ve released four CDs and established themselves as one of New Orleans’ best supergroups.

James Hunter has certainly paid his dues. Over the span of 30 years, he’s worked on the railway, busked in the streets of London, provided backup vocals and guitar for Van Morrison, played clubs and theatres all over the world, written scores of original songs, and recorded some of the most original and honest rhythm & soul albums of the last two decades. By 2006, Hunter was recognized with nominations for a GRAMMY® Award (“Best Traditional Blues Album” for People Gonna Talk (Rounder)) and an American Music Award (“Best New/Emerging Artist”). He and his band then hit the road for a decade of extensive touring and recorded three additional critically-acclaimed studio albums— The Hard Way (Concord), Minute by Minute (Concord) and Hold On!(Daptone). By 2016, MOJO magazine had crowned him “The United Kingdom’s Greatest Soul Singer.”

Arguably the pioneer of the “Country Rock” genre, Chris Hillman has carved a permanent niche in the history of contemporary American music through his work with such notable bands as The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas, and the Desert Rose Band. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award winner, four-time Grammy nominee and the recipient of numerous CMA and ACM awards.
Herb Pedersen is a legendary vocalist and all-star multi-instrumentalist who over the past forty years fronted his own band, The Laurel Canyon Ramblers, and then has been a collaborator with a “Who’s Who cast of legends” including Emmylou Harris, Earl Scruggs, The Dillards, Old and In the Way, Dan Fogelberg, Stephen Stills, Linda Ronstadt, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, Jackson Browne, and John Denver, and the Desert Rose Band. In recent years, Chris & Herb have recorded and toured in support of several acclaimed albums of Bluegrass, Acoustic and Country selections, as well as the occasional performances with their musical mistress, the Desert Rose Band!

David Lindley

Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley performs music that redefines the word “eclectic.” Lindley, well known for his many years as the featured accompanist with Jackson Browne, and leader of his own band El Rayo-X, has long championed the concept of world music. The David Lindley electro-acoustic performance effortlessly combines American folk, blues, and bluegrass traditions with elements from African, Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy, and Turkish musical sources. Lindley incorporates an incredible array of stringed instruments including but not limited to Kona and Weissenborn Hawaiian lap steel guitar, Turkish saz and chumbus, Middle Eastern oud, and Irish bouzouki. The eye-poppingly clad “Mr. Dave’s” uncanny vocal mimicry and demented sense of humor make his onstage banter a highlight of the show.
