He is among the most original and visionary musicians writing and performing today. Guitar Player calls him “the poet laureate of Louisiana’s fertile roots music scene.” New Orleans’ Gambit Weekly has honored Osborne as the Entertainer Of The Year. Six-time Minnesota Music Award winner and WC Handy nominee Reneé Austin calls her music a mix of R&B/Soul/Gospel with a hint of Texas, and it’s an apt description of the energy and passion she brings to the stage. Reneé’s singing and songwriting has been molded by an expanse of influences such as Michael McDonald, Anita Baker, Lionel Richie, Regina Belle, and Storyville. Get ready for a night of original music meant to touch your soul.

Al Stewart
April 23-24 | 7pm
Call 612.332.5299 or Click Here For Tickets

Ask Al Stewart to sum up where he is now, musically speaking, and you’re likely to wind up two steps behind where you started; this is by no means an unusual circumstance in conversation with Al, keenly aware as he is that making a leap forward often entails taking a step backward. Sometimes it’s into the library stacks where the late historian Ms. Tuchman dug for material. Sometimes it’s into the record stacks where the late rocker Mr. Cochran made his mark as a teenager singing his “Summertime Blues” so many summertimes ago.

GoGo Penguin
June 12 | 7pm
Call 612.332.5299 or Click Here For Tickets

It’s been an astonishing couple of years for Manchester based trio GoGo Penguin (drummer Rob Turner, double bassist Nick Blacka and pianist Chris Illingworth). Their trademark mash-up of minimalist piano themes, deeply propulsive bass lines and electronica-inspired drums has seen them shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, and fueled their exhilarating live shows from Manchester to Montreal and Paris to London. It is that ability to synthesis the seemingly disparate influences of electronica, jazz and classical music into their own unique musical DNA that gives GoGo Penguin such an instantly recognisable and compelling sound.

AT VIEUX CARRÉ
Stu Hamm: Solo Bass Songs and Stories
February 27 | 8pm

Call 612.332.5299 or Click Here For Tickets

Through his innovative work as a solo artist and his contributions as a sideman to Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, Stuart Hamm has firmly established himself as one of the most influential electric bassists of the past half-century. Extending the non-traditional function of the electric bass previously revolutionized by Jaco Pastorius and Stanley Clarke in the 1970s, Hamm helped to reshape the contemporary concept of the bass guitar as an unaccompanied instrument with the utilization of polyphonic, two-handed tapping, slapping and popping techniques, chords, and harmonics. Although Hamm certainly wasn’t the first bass player to debut during the 1980s and employ an unorthodox approach to playing the electric bass, he was undoubtedly at the forefront of his generation who effectively fused the application of these unconventional techniques.
