When I first saw the name Turn Turn Turn, I immediately thought of The Byrds, which the Minneapolis/Eau Claire-based Americana trio clearly said they were influenced by the harmonies of 60s.
The trio, Barb Brynstad on bass and vocals, Savannah Smith on guitar and vocals, and Adam Levy (from The Honeydogs) on guitars and vocals, will be having their album release party for their sophomore album New Rays From an Old Sun at the Dakota Jazz Club this January 20th. The record was said to be half influenced by the recent pandemic/political zeitgeist.
For the live show, they mentioned that it will indeed feature the “full band”, meaning drummer Josh Kaplan and keyboardist Peter J. Sands will be joining the trio for this upcoming live performance.
Show up early to see opener Lamar, not to be confused with Kendrick Lamar or Lamar Williams Jr. Minneapolis’ Lamar, previously was billed under his full name Geoffrey Lamar Wilson, which we mentioned in Feb 2020. Lamar was the former frontman for Brooklyn’s Jus Post Bellum. (W♥M)
