Not just another Twin Cities pop/rocker taking on the Dakota for its listening-room qualities, the sophisticated pop craftsman of “City Lights” local fame incorporated many jazz elements into his excellent and eclectic new album, “Airport Sparrows,” recorded and performed with a lushly layered new backing band that includes cellist Michelle Kinney, guitarist Zacc Harris and sax/clarinet stalwart Chris Thomson.
