BZ3 Organ Trio features organist Brian Ziemniak (Dr. Mambo’s Combo), guitarist David Feily (New Sound Underground), and drummer Kevin Washington (Moveable Feast), delivering a modern take on a classic organ trio. Together, BZ3 infuses its Minneapolis roots into an edgy funk sound, known for their impassioned live performances and taking listeners on an engaging journey through jazz, funk, soul and R&B styles with dynamic improvisation.
Their debut release in 2023 offers an expansive collection of unique originals and sonically reimagined covers, showcasing the band’s musicianship while catering to mainstream music listeners. Their original single “Glass Prism” earned a spot on Spotify’s prestigious Fresh Finds Jazz playlist in May 2023, while their cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Too High” (featuring guest vocalist Julius Collins) made it to Jazz88’s Top 10 for 2023 MN Releases.
NRG presents an intoxicating mix of jazz, hip-hop and soul, promising to continue its musical journey with new originals and reworkings of classic songs across genres. Brandon, assembling a great array of Minneapolis talent for NRG gigs, has paid his dues as a touring musician, including a stint as drummer for the 3-time Grammy-winning The Sounds of Blackness and a 10-year run with nationally known R&B favorites Mint Condition. Currently serving as music director & drummer for Stokley & The VU, Brandon also occasionally drums for The New Power Generation.
Between tours, Brandon freelances as a composer, songwriter, teaching artist and bandleader in the Twin Cities, all while continuing his journey as a student of musicianship.
