“Ginger possesses some of the sweetest and most clarion pipes in town.” – City Pages

Stepping away from performing an array of tribute shows, Ginger Commodore has designed tonight’s show, focused on her craft, the art of song styling. She’s learned from the best… Ella, Nancy, Etta, Roberta, Barbara, Stevie, Tony and Aretha. Further, Ginger presents a variety of jazzy, sultry, rhythmic, harmonic, soulful, lyrical, and melodic stylings, making them her own.

Also, as she often does, she offers the stage to a musician who is ready to step out and join the local live music arena. To that end, tonight she welcomes singer, Jackson Hurst!

Ginger & Jackson have worked together in musical productions through the years. They both appear in “The Night Before Christmas” with Sounds of Blackness, also the Concert Series at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. Furthermore, Jackson has worked with a variety of national recording artists like PJ Morton, Stokley, Kierra Sheard and Jovonta Patton. Finally, he performs gospel regularly with his family as The Hurst Family Experience.

Jackson Hurst emerges as a solo artist with a different sound than he’s known for in the Twin Cities. For example, the church kid forges a solo music career in the genres of R&B/soul, funk, country and pop. However, his roots in gospel still heavily influence him.

Tonight, Jackson’s music focuses on one of his inspirations, Bill Withers. You’ll hear your favorites: “Lean on Me”, “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Lovely Day” and “Grandma’s Hands” plus other of his classic hits.

Additionally, a stellar band accompanies the singers. Brian Ziemniak on keys, Yohannes Tona on bass, Brandon Commodore on drums and David Feily on guitar. Also, Peter Vircks on sax and Daryl Boudreaux on percussion complete the band.

It will be a night of smooth and sumptuous, soulful and provocative arrangements steered by Commodore’s competent musical insights… by design.

Recommended for Fans of Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Aretha Franklin and Bill Withers.
