Jamecia Bennett, a three-time Grammy winner is CEO of Minnesota Movement Entertainment. A local theatre and music icon, the Ordway Theater named Bennett its first resident artist. She received this title for the 2020-21 Broadway at the Ordway season. Furthermore, she frequently appears the Penumbra Theatre and the New Dawn Theatre. Also, she is also a Park Square Theater favorite for her portrayal of Sister Rosetta Tharpe in Marie and Rosetta. Moreover, Jamecia won an NAACP Image Award with Sounds of Blackness, the internationally acclaimed group for which she serves as lead vocalist.
Ginger Commodore, a member of the Midwest music scene for many years, regularly visits the Dakota stage. Classically trained, gospel-influenced, and jazz-inspired, Ginger’s musical foundation is a true amalgam of musical styles presented with her unique delivery.
Patricia Lacy possesses a rich contralto voice and a deep-rooted passion for soul and gospel music. Also, she is a longtime member of Sounds of Blackness, having recently celebrated her twenty-seventh year with the ensemble. Additionally, Lacy toured with Luther Vandross, an experience that profoundly influenced her artistic growth.
