“taking flamenco in new directions while preserving its essential spirit” – Guardian UK
Twenty years ago, four women joined forces and talents to rebirth as Las Migas. In a short time, they would find their way to the top of the international flamenco music scene. They were honored with a Latin Grammy nomination in 2017. They later won an Independent Music Award (MIN) for Best Flamenco Album in 2020 and a Latin Grammy for Best Flamenco Album in 2022.
The passionate voice of Carolina Fernández “La Chispa”, the guitars of Marta Robles and Alicia Grillo, and Laura Pacios on the violin together create a modern flamenco. Music that is accessible to all, with all the aromas of earth, air, fire and water, and messages to the soul that hit like waves of freedom, strength and love.
They had only just begun when they were already rewarded with the Instituto de Juventud (INJUVE) Best Flamenco Band award. In 2010 they released their first album, Reinas del matute. The success of the album led the group to start a long tour around Spain and Europe. At the beginning of 2012, they released their second album, Nosotras somos, initiating a tour around Catalonia, southern Spain and Madrid.
In 2019 they announced an amazing tour through some of the most important stages in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, Central Europe and Spain. Their fourth album, Cuatro, received a 2020 Independent Music Award for Best Flamenco Album.
Following an intense tour throughout Europe, the US and Latin America, this warrior quartet launched their boldest and most emotional album, 2022’s Libres. With it they reach across musical barriers to explore far-away flavors including country, pop and urban music, yet always holding tight to their flamenco and Spanish music roots. Libres won Best Flamenco Album at the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards.
