“Steve has a voice like a gravel driveway, a punk’s steely bravado” – Pitchfork

Steve Earle is one of the most acclaimed singer-songwriters of his generation. A protege of legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, he quickly became a master storyteller himself. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, The Pretenders, and countless others have recorded his songs.

In July 2024, Earle will release his new album, Alone Again (Live). The fifteen-song record will feature live recordings from Earle’s recent 2023 tour, including his classic hits “Copperhead Road,” “The Galway Girl,” “Guitar Town,” and more.

Regarding the upcoming tour, Steve said, ”So, October before last I woke up without a band. I had toured with one version of the Dukes or another since 1982, but the real continuous bloodline of the outfit died with my longtime bass player, Kelly Looney, in 2019. So, it seemed I’d come to a crossroads. Left? Right? I chose BACK. Back to performing solo like I did in coffeehouses when I first started.”

In 1986, he released his record, Guitar Town. It shot to number one on the country charts and is now regarded as a classic of the Americana genre. Subsequent releases like The Revolution Starts…Now (2004), Washington Square Serenade (2007), and Townes (2009) received consecutive Grammy Awards.

Restlessly creative across artistic disciplines, Earle has published both a novel and a collection of short stories. He has produced albums for other artists such as Joan Baez and Lucinda Williams. Additionally, he has acted in films, television, and on the stage. In 2009, Earle appeared in the off-Broadway play Samara, for which he also wrote the score. The New York Times described the play, and the music, as “exquisitely subliminal.” Recently, Mr. Earle was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
