Chicago drummer Kenne Thomas brings his K-TET to the Dakota for the premiere of their album, YESTERDAYS. A well-traveled artist, Kenne honed his skills in the grinding jazz organ trios, hard bop jazz groups, and progressive fusion bands of Chicago. His versatility stems from a wide range of experiences: touring with an Elvis tribute show, with jazz organist Toshihiko Kankawa, and following postgraduate studies, as a percussionist with the St. Paul Civic Orchestra.
The K-TET is comprised of talented jazz musicians from around the country. The saxophone/trombone front line echoes the spirit of the Art Blakey Jazz Messengers. The new album is jazz in the classic bebop swing mode, with compositions penned by Thomas. Featured on the album is vocalist Lila Ammons, who has graced stages worldwide.
