To celebrate the unofficial start of summer, the Minneapolis-based Shabby Road Orchestra will perform Magical Mystery Tour in its entirety. This performance will be their first rendition of the album in seven years, showcasing their dedication to authentically recreating Beatles music.

Critics have lauded Magical Mystery Tour as “the other half of the double album that Sgt. Pepper should have been.” They describe it as a sequel that “breathes easier with stronger songs.” Released during a peak period for The Beatles, the album combined inventive songwriting with a puzzling surrealist film. Today, it’s celebrated for its experimental musical forms (“Blue Jay Way,” “Flying”) and lively singles (“All You Need is Love,” “Penny Lane,” “Hello Goodbye”).

Along with Magical Mystery Tour, the Shabby Road Orchestra will also perform a mix of lesser-known and iconic tracks from the Beatles’ final six albums. The ensemble includes members from The Honeydogs, Six Mile Grove, Greazy Meal and The New Standards holiday show. Since 2017, they have been staging detailed live performances of the Beatles’ later albums, capturing the band’s original essence and sound.

The 12-piece Shabby Road Orchestra is:

Adam Levy (guitars, vocals)
John Eller (guitars, vocals)
Joe Carey (guitars, vocals)
Brandon Sampson (guitars, vocals)
John Fields (bass)
Ken Chastain (drums, vocals)
Tom Scott (keys, percussion, sound effects)

David Foley (horns, woodwinds)
Andy Nelson (woodwinds)
