About Peter Himmelman
During his multi-pronged career as a singer, songwriter and all-around performer, as a children’s entertainer, TV and film composer and pioneering webcast star, Peter Himmelman has maintained extremely high standards. From his early days with Shangoya and Sussman Lawrence to his recent solo work, Himmelman’s music burns with honesty and conviction. With a colorful and lengthy career in music already under his belt, Peter continues to create, both musically and in the literary field. His new work is further evidence that his honesty and soul-searching intensity make him one of the most treasured rock musicians of his era.
What Other People Have Been Saying...
“Himmelman writes songs with the same emphatic edge and aesthetic urgency that impelled the Lost Generation to write novels” – Time Magazine
“One of rock’s most wildly imaginative performers” – USA Today
About Ellis Delaney
After moving from Texas to Minneapolis at age 16, Ellis got her start singing her own songs at open mics where she quickly dropped her often-mispronounced former last name(Bergeron; her new married name is Delaney). She joined a rock band in high school while also setting up her own record label to put out her first solo CD Soft Day in 1996. In college at St Olaf, she fronted the band Bobby Llama and in 1999 the band was voted Sam Goody/Musicland’s Best Unsigned Band in America. Ellis went solo and began touring full-time in 2000. Since then she has independently sold more than 40,000 copies of her eight CDs.
Ellis got her start performing the women’s festival circuit in 2000, with regular performances at the Michigan Women’s Music Festival. She also has headlined the National Women’s Music Festival in 2006 & 2008 and the Virgina Women’s Music Festival in 2009.
She has also established herself as a rising artist in the folk music community. She was voted “Most Wanted to Return” by the audience at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in 2006, and at Sisters Folk Festival in 2009, and Moab (Utah) in 2012-2014 and has since been invited to perform at several other folk festivals including the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the Festival for the Eno, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Wildflower Festival, the Fischer Festival and the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival (2007-2016).
Ellis named her ninth full-length recording The Guest House (2016), inspired by the Rumi poem of the same name. Like the poem, her album covers the joys and pain of life and loss, inviting them all in as welcome guests. This is her first studio recording since the birth of her daughter in 2010.
